Summer School 2026

We are excited to announce the upcoming Summer School, which will take place in the first week of August (August 3-7) in Mannheim city center. This interdisciplinary and cross-year event aims to explore the potential of rooftop spaces in urban environments.

The summer school will be conducted in English and is open to participants from our nationwide TEAC network, with a limited number of around 20 participants.

The summer school in Mannheim, Germany will explore the potential of urban rooftops as multi-functional spaces for community life, biodiversity, climate resilience, and renewable energy. The participants will work in international teams to develop concepts for transforming rooftops into inclusive living spaces, solar energy hubs, urban gardens, and water-sensitive landscapes. During the week, SRH University mentors, MultiRoofs network experts, and regional stakeholders will lead participants through hands-on workshops and interdisciplinary design sessions focused on making cities more sustainable and livable.

Participation in the Summer School and subsequent work can count as an elective, as previously discussed with Professor Marc Kirschbaum.

The application deadline is July 1st. Summer school is organized by the department of the built environment and the school of technology and architecture of SRH University in collaboration with the ongoing EU project Multi-Roofs.
